Tejas District - Longhorn Council

Justin Wilburn was formally introduced as Tejas District's new District Executive (DE) at the Cub Scout Roundtable last night (Tuesday, 5 Jan '10). The DE is a professional Scouter, employed by the Longhorn Council and assigned to provide direct support to the district. The DE along with volunteers District Chairman and District Commissioner make up the district's "Key Three".

Justin is taking over from Amanda Lewis who has served as our DE for about two years. She has been reassigned to another Longhorn Council district. We'd like to thank Amanda for her support and welcome Justin to Tejas territory.

You will certainly see Justin around within the next few weeks -- at Cub and Boy Scout Roundtables, District Committee meetings, at rallies, the District Dinner (March 16) and a host of other district / council events. Just to give you a head's up about him, here is what he had to say about himself:

I am a lifelong North Texan, born in Ft Worth, and have lived in the metroplex my entire life. I graduated from the University of North Texas where I received a BA in Sociology with a minor in Non-profit Management. I spent the last four and a half years working as a teller supervisor at Woodforest National Bank (small bank out of Houston area). Serving as a Longhorn Council District Executive is my first Scouting expeience. I am very blessed to be taking on such a strong district and hope for great things in the near future.
