Tejas District - Longhorn Council

The 2009 Tejas District Spring Camporee is a fun filled weekend at the Buchanan Springs Campground at Sid Richardson Scout Ranch. The attached Camporee Guide contains all the information your unit will need to have a successful and fun filled time. The Camporee has been put together by the Yapahi Chapter of the Netopalis Sipo Schipinachk Lodge of the Order of the Arrow.

The theme of the 2009 Spring Camporee is “Marvels of Scouting”, which will emphasize Patrol Imagination and the Patrol Method. The Patrol Method focuses on both leadership and teamwork, which are critical to the success of the Patrol. The Patrol Method is the essence of Scout run Scouting and the scoring of the events will reward those patrols that are Scout led.

Webelos Dens are invited to compete and their scoring will be separate from the Scout Patrols. Although Webelos are invited to come, they are not permitted to stay overnight at camp, they may come for the Saturday only.

As with any program, changes can and often do occur. The Chapter has spent many hours ensuring that you will have a well-planned and enjoyable Camporee, but things happen that are beyond our control. The Chapter can only ask that you please bear with us if we must make changes.

REGISTRATION
Registration fees for this year are as follows: $7.00 per person in attendance. THE REGISTRATION FEE WILL BE DUE ON FRIDAY NIGHT MARCH 20th, 2009, although you are welcome to pay in advance. The registration fee covers the cost of the Camporee, patches and ribbons. The Chapter will not accept cash. Please make checks payable to: The Longhorn Council.

In order to plan for the Camporee, please submit the registration form attached by March 6th, 2009. These forms will be used to expedite registration. All participating Scouts, Webelos, Venturers, and their Leaders must register for the Camporee.

Each Webelos Den must be sponsored by a Boy Scout Troop. Please see the most recent Guide to Safe Scouting for revised policies on Webelos camping and adult participation.
